Wheaton, Ill. – The Wheaton College football team (9-1) will host a First Round Game of the 2016 NCAA Division III Playoffs on Saturday November 19. The Thunder will entertain Huntingdon (9-1) at McCully Stadium in Wheaton on Saturday in a noon kickoff. The winner of next Saturday's Wheaton-Huntingdon game will advance to face the winner of another first round game between North Central and Rose-Hulman on November 26.
The Thunder earned an at-large bid to the 2016 NCAA Division III Playoffs. Wheaton is making its third consecutive appearance in the postseason, and its 10
th overall appearance in the Division III Playoffs. Wheaton's 10 NCAA Playoff selections ranks as the second-most in CCIW history, behind only Augustana's 15 postseason appearances. The Thunder has compiled a 13-9 all-time record in the postseason, including a perfect 9-0 record in the first round.
Saturday's matchup will be the first meeting on the gridiron between Wheaton and Huntingdon. The Hawks earned the USA South conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Playoffs by winning the USA South Championship for the second consecutive year. The Hawks posted a 9-1 overall record in the 2016 regular season, with a 6-1 mark in USA South conference play.
Admission for Saturday's game is $8 for adults, $4 for students; and children under three are admitted for free. As a NCAA Championship event no free passes will be accepted. Fans can
purchase advance tickets online (credit card only) and tickets will also be available at the game at 11 am on game day (cash only).
