Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton women's soccer game remained a game out of first place in the CCIW standings with a 2-0 victory over Elmhurst on Wednesday night at Joe Bean Stadium. With the victory, Wheaton improves to 6-7 overall and 3-1 in the CCIW. Elmhurst falls to 8-5 and 1-4 in conference play.
Wheaton's victory sets up a first place battle on Saturday afternoon when the Thunder travel to Illinois Wesleyan to take on the Titans (6-4-2, 3-0 CCIW) at 1 PM.

Wheaton outshot the Bluejays 12-6 on the night, including a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal. Wheaton attempted the only five corner kicks of the night. Both
Kathryn McGregor and Emily Gordon made three saves on the night with Gordon allowing two goals.Â
After an uneventful first half produced just three total shots before the action picked up after the halftime break. Wheaton pushed the action starting in the 65th minute and
Sarah Gencarella (PICTURED LEFT) cashed in a deflected shot by
Autumn Rasmussen in front of the net for her first collegiate goal to give Wheaton a 1-0 advantage. Gencarella's second goal of the game doubled Wheaton's lead in the 84th minute of action off an assist from
Anna Saunders to account for the final margin.
