Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Thunder women's soccer team lost a 1-0 decision at Carnegie Mellon University on Saturday afternoon in the final day of the Carnegie Mellon DoubleTree Tartan Cup. Wheaton, ranked 18
th in the NSCAA Division III Top-25 preseason poll, is now 3-2 on the year. Carnegie Mellon, ranked seventh in the same poll, is now 3-0-1 on the season.
The two nationally ranked squads competed through a scoreless first half on Saturday afternoon. The Tartans out-shot Wheaton 4-1 in the opening half and each team had one corner kick.
The hosts capitalized on a scoring opportunity early in the second half. CMU's Tori Iatarola registered her first goal of the year, just 1:24 into the second half to give her team the lead. The Tartans out-shot the Thunder 5-2 in the second half and held on for the 1-0 victory.

Abbey Fuster made two saves in the match and allowed one goal. Carnegie Mellon netminder Sarah Mahler recorded a shutout, allowing two Thunder goals.
Carnegie Mellon out-shot the Thunder 9-3 in the match. The Tartans were awarded three corner kicks in the match and Wheaton attempted two.
The Thunder will return to action on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. when Loras College visits Wheaton's Joe Bean Stadium for a non-conference matchup.
