GAME STATS Rome, Ga. - It took just over 99 minutes but the Thunder men's soccer team scored first for the second straight game and defeated Berry College 1-0 in the Berry Invitational.
Noah Gulley scored the game-winning goal off a goalie deflection of
Marshall Hollingsworth's shot to give Wheaton the victory and cap a 2-0 weekend trip and improve the Thunder record to 3-2 on the season. Berry falls to 2-1-2 overall.
Matt Paprocki made two saves in recording his first shutout of the season. Zachary Wroblewski made four saves allowed one goal for the Vikings. Wheaton once again held a hefty edge in shots at 24-2 but only had a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal.
Wheaton dominated the play throughout the game but amped up their attack in the overtime period. Wheaton managed eight shots in both the first and second halves but then struck eight shots in the first overtime period before Gulley's goal ended things at the 99:06 mark.
Wheaton will next be in action on Saturday, September 19 when the Thunder host Rose-Hulman at 7 PM at Joe Bean Stadium.
