Hanover Park, Ill. - The Wheaton men's tennis team hosted Hope College (2-8) on Saturday afternoon on the indoor courts at Centre Court Athletic Club in Hanover Park. Wheaton improved to 8-5 on the season with an 8-5 win against the Flying Dutchmen. Wheaton has won seven of its last eight matches, including four wins in its last four matches.

The Thunder owned a 2-1 lead after picking up a pair of doubles wins. Justin Ancona and Matt Steiner earned an 8-2 win at number-two doubles against Hope's Colin McKey and Cody Herbruck. The Thunder number-three doubles team of Derek Mumaw and Brent Westergren earned an 8-3 win against the Hope duo of Sam Schuster and Camden Ludlow.

Senior Josh Ward was a 6-0, 6-3 victor at number-one singles against Herbruck of Hope. Ancona earned a 6-0, 6-4 win at number-two singles versus McKey and Steiner won a 6-3, 6-2 decision against Hope's Matthew Culver at number-four singles. Wheaton freshman Lincoln Metz earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory against Schuster at number-four singles.

The Thunder will return to action on April 7 at Elmhurst College.
