Josh Ward has been named the CCIW Men's Tennis Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday morning. This is the third career Player of the Week selection for Ward who also was honored with the award in 2014 (3/19/14) and 2013 (3/20/13). He has helped lead the Thunder to a 7-5 record this season, including six wins in the team's last seven matches.
Ward helped lead the Thunder to a 9-0 win at Lake Forest last Saturday. Ward won a 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 6-1 victory at number-one singles against Lake Forest's Dan Pivonka. In Saturday's doubles match, he paired with Thunder freshman
Karl Wenzel for an 8-2 win against Pivonka and John Snider of Lake Forest at number-one doubles.
Ward is 9-5 in singles action this season and has posted a 5-5 record in doubles competition. In four seasons at Wheaton, Ward has compiled a career record of 65-22 in singles competition.
