Wheaton, Ill. - The CCIW Champion Thunder football team had three players honored as All-Americans by D3football.com on Friday night. Senior linebacker Adam Dansdill earned First Team honors, senior tackle Matt Snebold was named to the Second Team and junior guard Peter Gibson was a Third Team honoree. This year's trio marks the second year in a row and the third time in the last four years that Wheaton has had two or more players honored. It is Wheaton's most honorees in a single season since three players were also chosen in 2004. Wheaton finished the season with an 11-1 record for the second consecutive season and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Playoffs.

Dansdill's First Team recognition follows a Second Team nod a year ago making him only the third Wheaton player to earn All-American recognition in multiple years since the award's inception in 1999. The recognition also continues a busy fall for Dansdill (PICTURED LEFT) who was previously named an AFCA All-American. He was previously named a First Team All-North Region selection by D3football.com marking his second consecutive First Team All-Region nod. Earlier this week he was named a finalist for the Cliff Harris Award which is given annually to the best small college defensive player in the country.

Dansdill, the 2014 and 2015 CCIW Defensive Player of the Year, led the Thunder in 2015 with 115 total tackles, including 14 tackles for lost yardage this season. He is the fifth player in league history to win the CCIW Defensive Player of the Year award twice, joining Jim Perryman of Millikin (1981-82); Chad Thorson from Wheaton (1988-89); Rusty VanWetzinga of Augustana (1994-95) and Illinois Wesleyan's John Munch (1996-97). Dansdill helped lead Wheaton to a a CCIW Championship in 2015, the second-consecutive conference title for the Thunder. A two-time First Team All-CCIW selection, Dansdill has recorded 318 total tackles in his four seasons at Wheaton. Dansdill made 27 tackles for lost yardage (-93 yards), including six quarterback sacks. In his four-year career he recorded 25 passes broken-up, including three interceptions. As a junior in 2014 he registered 133 total tackles and made 115 total tackles this season to become the first Wheaton defensive player to record back-to-back 100-plus tackle seasons since Justin Knapp (2001 & 2002).

Second Team honoree Matt Snebold (PICTURED RIGHT) and Third Team selection Peter Gibson (PICTURED BELOW) made up an integral core of an offensive line that blocked for a balanced Wheaton offense that averaged 470.9 yards per game. Wheaton ran for 236.1 yards per game this season and averaged 234.8 passing yards per contest. Matt Snebold's Second Team nod at tackle follows his recognition as a Second Team Preseason All-American by D3football.com. A two-time All-North Region honoree from D3football.com, Snebold has not allowed a sack over the last two seasons. Earlier this fall Snebold was recognized as Wheaton's first ever semifinalist for the Gagliardi Trophy given annually to the top student-athlete in Division III football. Both linemen earned First Team All-CCIW and First Team All-North Region recognition earlier this season.
