Zach Feddeler named CCIW Special Teams Player of the Week

Wheaton, Ill. - Wheaton freshman punter Zach Feddeler has been named the CCIW Special Teams Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. This is the first weekly award for the Thunder rookie and is Wheaton's first special teams award of the season. Wheaton finishes the awards season having won one of the three weekly honors in eight of the ten weeks that Wheaton participated. Feddeler becomes the seventh different Thunder player to earn a Player of the Week honor.

Feddeler punted four times in Wheaton's 17-3 victory over Carthage that clinched Wheaton's second consecutive CCIW title on Saturday. His punts covered 134 yards (33.5-yard average) with a long of 41 yards. He had two punts (one in the second quarter and one in the third quarter) that were both downed at the one-yard line by Adam Dansdill.

For the season, Feddeler is averaging 32.5 yards per punt with a season long of 54 yards. After Saturday he has had seven punts inside the opponents 20-yard line. Wheaton has allowed only six punt returns this season, with opponents being held to just seven yards per return.

Feddeler and the Thunder open play in the NCAA Tournament on Saturday with a First Round matchup against Lakeland College at 12 PM at McCully Stadium.
