Wheaton, Ill.
- A quiet 44 minutes of second half soccer followed a sparkling 30 seconds and set-up an exciting final 30 seconds of soccer at Joe Bean Stadium on Friday night. With Wheaton leading 2-1 at halftime, Lake Forest's Colin Jackson produced a breathtaking equalizer half a minute into the second half to tie the game at 2-2. With overtime looming in the final minute, Reed Bartley rose above the crowd on a corner kick to head home the game-winning goal with just 31 seconds remaining to give Wheaton the 3-2 victory and push Wheaton into the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday night.

Wheaton outshot the Foresters 27-11 in the match including an 11-6 edge in shots on goal. Matt Paprocki made four saves and allowed two goals for the Thunder. Lake Forest's Elvin Husetovic made eight saves and allowed three goals for the Foresters. Wheaton improves its record to 13-3-3 on the season. Lake Forest finishes at 13-7-1.

19164The Foresters took advantage of a quick start to score first as Dylan Hartman cashed in a slow cross in the six-yard box to give Lake Forest a 1-0 lead just 5:19 into the match. The goal seemed to spark the Thunder as Wheaton took control of the match and leveled the score in the ninth minute when Stephen Golz (PICTURED RIGHT) finished a strong lefty shot off a pair of assists from Elliot Borge and Max Carey.

It was the passing of Carey and Jon Clark that opened up Golz in the 19th minute for his second goal of the night for a 2-1 Wheaton lead. That goal was nearly followed with another as Jon Clark and Noah Gulley each narrowly missed giving the hosts a two-goal edge.

Jackson's strike from 30 yards out to the far post put a charge into the Foresters in the open minute of the second half and tied the match at two. Husetovic held off the Thunder through much of the second half as Wheaton attacked in waves. Max Carey nearly replicated Jackson's wonder strike in the 60th minute when his shot from 25 yards out missed the crossbar by inches.

Finally, in the final minute, Marshall Hollingsworth's corner kick swung in towards the middle of the 18-yard box where Bartley rose to head the ball past Husetovic to give Wheaton the 3-2 lead with 31 seconds remaining. Wheaton then pushed away a last push from the Foresters to clinch the win.

Wheaton will face the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawks on Saturday night in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament. The Warhawks advanced with a penalty kick shootout victory after playing Rose-Hulman to a scoreless tie. Wheaton defeated the Warhawks 3-0 in the Second Round of last season's NCAA Tournament.
