#18-Thunder women's soccer team shuts out Millikin 7-0 at home

Wheaton, Ill. –
The Wheaton Thunder women's soccer team earned an impressive 7-0 victory against Millikin University (5-6, 1-1 CCIW) on Friday night in conference action. Wheaton scored all seven goals in the first half, including four goals in the first 30 minutes of the match.

Wheaton, ranked 18th in this week's NSCAA Division III Top 25, is now 10-3 overall and 2-0 in CCIW play. The Thunder will host Carthage College next Wednesday in a CCIW matchup at 4:30 p.m. at Joe Bean Stadium.

Thunder senior Ally Witt scored just 1:09 into the match as she blasted a shot from five yards away from the goal to give Wheaton a 1-0 lead. Fellow senior Kristin Rauh assisted on the goal. Junior Sarah Frey increased Wheaton's lead eight and a half minutes later on a goal that she registered as a result of a Sydney Sharkey cross at the 9:39 mark of the match.

Two goals by Witt helped Wheaton's lead increase to 4-0. The Thunder All-American scored off of an Annie Wooldridge assist at 21:28 and tallied her third goal of the night at 29:06 thanks to a Sharkey assist.

Rauh registered her team-best eighth goal of the year in the 35th minute to increase Wheaton's lead to 5-0, with an assist from Frey. Sophomore Morgan Whitman tallied Wheaton's sixth goal in the 40th minute as she utilized an Anna Saunders assist. Chelsea Gnan accounted for the 7-0 final score when she registered a goal in the 44th minute off of a Saunders assist.

Wheaton dominated the match with a 33-2 advantage in shots, including a 17-0 edge in shots on goal. Wheaton had a 5-1 edge in corner kicks in the match.

Thunder goalkeeper Abbey Fuster played 27 minutes in net for the Thunder and Mary Daghfal registered 63 minutes as the pair teamed with the Wheaton defense to post the shutout. Millikin goalkeeper Anna Benvenuto made 10 saves and allowed seven goals.
