Andrew Bowers named the CCIW's Player of the Week on offense

Wheaton, Ill. - Wheaton College junior Andrew Bowers has been named the CCIW Player of the Week on offense for football, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon. Bowers is the third Wheaton player to earn CCIW Player of the Week recognition from the conference this season, joining Adam Dansdill and Wes Cannonier who have won the award on the defensive side of the ball this year.

Bowers, a junior quarterback for the Thunder, stepped in for injured starter Johnny Peltz and tallied 426 yards of total offense during Wheaton's 31-7 win at North Park in the CCIW opener on Saturday afternoon. Bowers was 21-of-30 passing on the day with 372 passing yards and two touchdown tosses. He also rushed for 54 yards on 17 carries with a one touchdown run.

His 23-yard touchdown pass late in the first quarter gave Wheaton a 7-0 lead and his 17-yard scoring pass in the second quarter helped the Thunder hold a 17-0 halftime lead. He finished the scoring on the day with a one-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
