Chicago, Ill. - The Thunder women's soccer team was blanked in a Top-25 matchup for the second straight game on Wednesday afternoon. Depleted by injuries, Wheaton was outshot 20-8 at Stagg Field. With the win, the Maroons improve to 11-4 overall while Wheaton falls to 11-5 overall. Wheaton will return to conference play on Saturday when the Thunder host North Central at 4:30 PM at Joe Bean Stadium.
Three first half goals gave the Maroons a commanding first half edge. The hosts scored just 86 seconds into the match off a scramble in the box and received contributions from three different goal-scorers. The Maroons added goals in the 33rd, 43rd and 56th minutes.
Abbey Fuster made five saves and allowed four goals for the Thunder. Piper Mike made two saves in a shutout effort for Chicago.
