Thunder volleyball rounds out the weekend at the WU/Asics National Invite

GAME STATS 1 | GAME STATS 2 St. Louis, Mo. – The Wheaton volleyball concluded its participation at this weekend's Washington University/ASICS National Invite with a pair of matches on Saturday. Wheaton opened play on Saturday with its second consecutive match against at nationally-ranked opponent as the Thunder lost 3-1 to #12-ranked Washington University-St. Louis (17-25, 22-25, 25-19, 24-26). Wheaton closed out its participation in the tournament with a 3-0 loss to Southwestern (Texas) (18-25, 19-25, 23-25). Thunder senior Andy DeMoss (PICTURED ABOVE) was named to the all-tournament team for her efforts this weekend.
 
In the morning match against #12-ranked Washington-St. Louis, sophomore Shelby Knowles led the Thunder with 13 kills and she added 10 digs. DeMoss tallied 10 kills, while freshmen Hannah Japp and Emily Potts each added eight kills. Kelli Manning collected 14 digs and Lauren Wilhite added 10 digs. Setters Ashley Torok and Alley Lindner each distributed 19 assists. Japp and Potts each tallied six total blocks in the match.
 
Potts and Sara Reiskytl each posted a team-high six kills in the afternoon match against Southwestern. DeMoss and Knowles each recorded four kills. Torok led the Thunder with 18 assists and Wilhite posted a team-best 21 digs. Torok and Manning each added 15 kills. Japp recorded five total blocks.
 
Wheaton will entertain Lake Forest College at 7 p.m. in King Arena in the 2014 home opener for the Thunder.
