Thunder volleyball closes out with two matches on Saturday at the Elmhurst Invitational

GAME STATS 1 | GAME STATS 2 Elmhurst, Ill. – The Thunder volleyball team lost two matches on Saturday at the nationally competitive Elmhurst Invitational. Susquehanna defeated Wheaton 3-1 in the morning session at Elmhurst and Heidelberg topped the Thunder 3-1 in the afternoon. Wheaton (4-10) will be off until September 27 when the team travels to UW-Whitewater.
 
Thunder head coach Brittany Smith said of her team, "Today showed again that we have the ability to play at a high level. But again, we struggle to maintain our focus and discipline. Still, we will continue to push forward, learning these hard lessons along the way as we build toward the conference schedule."
 
Susquehanna defeated the Thunder 3-1 (17-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-14). Shelby Knowles led the Thunder with 15 kills, adding 10 digs. Andy DeMoss and Hannah Japp each had seven kills in the match. Ashley Torok tallied 16 assists and Alley Lindner added 14 assists.  DeMoss led the Thunder with 17 digs and Torok added 10 digs. Lindsay Stein recorded a team-high seven total blocks and Sara Reiskytl had six total blocks.

Heidelberg topped the Thunder 3-1 (13-25, 25-22, 25-10, 25-20) as Wheaton won the first set, however, Heidelberg finished out by winning the final three sets. Knowles tallied 19 kills in the match and DeMoss added 11. Kelli Manning led all players with 25 digs and DeMoss added 22 digs. Torok distributed 26 assists with four service aces, and Lindner had 19 assists.
