GAME STATS 2 Elmhurst, Ill. – The Wheaton volleyball team (4-7) split a pair of matches on Friday at the Elmhurst Invitational. This weekend's tournament, hosted by the #13-ranked Elmhurst Bluejays, features numerous nationally-ranked teams. 11
th-ranked Eastern University (13-1) defeated Wheaton in today's opening match, 3-1 (25-18, 25-16, 19-25, 25-14). The Thunder topped UW-Platteville, 3-2 (25-16, 26-24, 24-26, 25-21, 15-9) in an evening session tonight.
In the Thunder win against UW-Platteville,
Shelby Knowles recorded 20 kills, with 15 digs.
Andy DeMoss (PICTURED ABOVE) tallied 15 kills, with a team-high 18 digs. Freshman
Hannah Japp tallied 13 kills, with five total blocks and
Lindsay Stein contributed 11 kills.
Ashley Torok distributed 32 assists and freshman
Alley Lindner added 21 assists.
Kelli Manning recorded 17 digs.
In today's 3-1 loss to Eastern, Knowles led Wheaton with 13 kills and senior DeMoss contributed 12 kills. Torok had 17 assists and freshman Lindner distributed 14 assists. Manning had a team-high 17 digs for the Thunder and Stein had three total blocks.
Wheaton will face Susquehanna University
(LIVESTATS) on Saturday at 11 a.m. and the Thunder will take on Heidelberg University
(LIVESTATS) at 3 p.m.
