Wheaton, Ill.
- The Thunder men's soccer team posted its third consecutive shutout and 10th of the season with a 4-0 victory over Millikin in a CCIW Tournament Semifinal match on Wednesday night at Joe Bean Stadium. Wheaton advances to face Elmhurst in the CCIW Championship at 7:30 PM on Saturday night at Joe Bean Stadium. Elmhurst battled to a 1-1 at North Park but advanced with a 7-6 victory in a shootout. Wheaton improves to 17-3 with the win while Millikin finishes its season with a record of 9-8-1.

Matt Paprocki made one save in 81:01 in goal for the Thunder while Matt Prior played the final 8:59, making one save. Millikin's Daniel Sinclair made five saves while allowing four goals. The Thunder held a 22-6 edge in shots including a 9-2 advantage in shots on goal. Wheaton attempted seven corner kicks while Millikin tried two corners.

Despite controlling the early touches, Wheaton was unable to find the net through first portion of the first half. Starting to play long later in the half, Wheaton found space for the first goal of the night. Possessing in the midfield, Stephen Golz played over the top of the Millikin back line to an on-running Jordan Golz who settled the pass on the left side of the box and struck a left-footed shot to the far post that beat Sinclair to give Wheaton the 1-0 lead. That lead would hold until halftime despite another late half surge by the Thunder.

15730Early in the second half, the pace of the Thunder offense took over and accounted for a couple of quick goals. Max Carey set up the second goal of the night with a crafty individual play on the right side of the box to get the end line and send a cross into the box where Borge was waiting at the top of the six-yard box for an easy one-time to far post to give Wheaton the 2-0 lead in the 53rd minute. Two and a half minutes later, Stephen Golz was the receiving end of a beautiful pass from Adam Blackman and beat Sinclair to make it 3-0. Cole Lenderink (PICTURED RIGHT) provided the final tally in the 69th minute with a finish off a nice assist from the right side of the box off the foot of Josh Greene.

Both side had late opportunities but neither could convert leading to the 4-0 victory.

Wheaton will host Elmhurst at 7:30 PM on Saturday night at Joe Bean in the CCIW Tournament Championship game. The winner of Saturday night's match will earn the conference's automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Tournament. Wheaton defeated Elmhurst 1-0 at Joe Bean Stadium earlier this season.

Note Worthy: The Golz Connection was the third time this season that one Golz brother has assisted the other for a score...Wheaton has reached in its third consecutive CCIW Tournament Championship game.
