Johnny Peltz repeats as CCIW Offensive Player of the Week

Wheaton, Ill. - Sophomore quarterback Johnny Peltz has been name this week's CCIW Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. This is the second straight week Peltz has earned the award making him the first Thunder football player since Chad Bradley in 2003 to earn the honor in consecutive weeks.

Peltz completed 81.8% (18-22) of his passes for 289 yards and four touchdowns in Wheaton's 56-20 victory over Elmhurst on Saturday. The win gave Wheaton sole possession of the first place in the CCIW with two games remaining. Peltz connected with Luke Thorson on scoring passes of 11, 23 and 17 yards and hit Andrew Lindquist for a 15-yard touchdown strike. He was also Wheaton's leading rusher, carrying 16 times for 119 yards and four touchdowns. Peltz found paydirt on runs of 53 and 16 yards and scored on a pair of one-yard touchdown plunges.

Since earning the starting job, Peltz has now completed 53 of 73 passes (72.6%) of the passes over his past three games for 701 yards and seven touchdowns with no turnovers. He has also rushed 58 times of 395 yards and another five scores. In that span, Wheaton is averaging 36 points and 469.3 yards per game.

Wheaton will host Illinois Wesleyan at 1 PM on Saturday in the final regular season home game for the Thunder.
