Wheaton, Ill. – Wheaton College junior Mikey Swider has been named the CCIW Defensive Player of the Week for football, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.

Swider led the Thunder with 17 total tackles, including nine solo stops, on Saturday in 28-3 win at Millikin. His 17 tackles were the most in the CCIW on Saturday and the Big Blue's three points was the fewest scored by Millikin against Wheaton since 2010.

In Wheaton's six games this season, Swider has recorded 60 total tackles, including 30 solo stops. He has recorded six tackles for loss (-23 yards), including two sacks (-14 yards) this season. Swider currently ranks fourth in the CCIW in tackles.

Wheaton (6-0) is ranked 11th in this week's AFCA Division III Top-25 and 17th in this week's D3football.com Top-25 Poll. The Thunder will host North Central on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in the "Battle for the Little Brass Bell".
