GAME STATS 2 River Forest, Ill. –The Wheaton volleyball team split its two matches on Friday at the Concordia University-Chicago Invitational. The Thunder opened with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 27-25) victory against Concordia-Chicago. Wheaton lost a 0-3 decision (24-26, 17-25, 25-27) to Dominican University in the second match of the day for the Thunder.

Brittany Smith noted of today's matches, "After winning in three against Concordia, I felt like we came out flat and emotionally drained against Dominican. We tried to regroup and just couldn't find our rhythm. Unfortunately we came close in the third set but it was too little too late. Hopefully with some rest we can re-focus and be ready to play next weekend at our Invitational."
Wheaton was in control throughout its 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 27-25) victory against Concordia-Chicago. Junior
Maddie McGinnis led the Thunder with 17 kills and two service aces and
Lauren Wilhite contributed 34 assists.
Kelli Manning had 15 digs to lead the Thunder and
Shelby Knowles added nine.

Dominican ended Wheaton's six-match win streak as the Thunder lost a 0-3 decision (24-26, 17-25, 25-27). McGinnis led the Thunder with 11 kills and she added 12 digs. Knowles recorded eight kills, with nine digs. Senior
Emily Buyse tallied six kills, with three total blocks.
Lauren Wilhite had 28 assists and Manning had a team-high 13 digs in the match.

Wheaton is now 10-5 on the year. The Thunder will return to action next Friday in the first day of action at the two-day Wheaton Invitational.
