GAME STATS 2 Rock Island, Ill. – The Thunder volleyball team posted a 1-1 record this afternoon at Augustana College's Pumpkin Bash Tournament. Wheaton lost to Wartburg College 1-3 (17-25, 25-22, 25-14, 25-21) in the opening session this afternoon. The Thunder closed out its participation in the tournament with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-22) victory against Simpson College.
Andy DeMoss led the Thunder in the Wartburg match with 11 kills and
Shelby Knowles added 10 kills.
Lindsay Stein tallied seven kills and
Madeline Taylor added six kills.
Kelli Manning and Knowles each recorded a team-best 17 digs in the match. Senior
Cora Nott registered four service aces in the match.
Ashley Torok contributed 18 assists and
Lauren Wilhite had 16 assists. Wheaton tallied 44 kills, with a .123 attack percentage and 41 assists. Wartburg recorded 59 kills, posting a .322 attack percentage and 56 assists.
DeMoss was Wheaton's kills leader in the 3-0 victory against Simpson as she posted nine kills. Knowles had seven kills, with a .462 attack percentage and
Emily Buyse registered six kills. Manning recorded a team-high 12 digs, while DeMoss and Torok each had two service aces. Wilhite had 16 assists and Torok tallied 13 assists. Wheaton tallied 36 kills against the Storm, with a .281 attack percentage and 33 assists. Simpson recorded 20 kills, with a -.032 attack percentage and 19 assists.
Wheaton (22-9) will travel to North Park on Oct. 29 for a CCIW match against the Vikings.
