Brooke Olson has been named the CCIW Women's Basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. This week's selection marks the second time this season and the fourth time in her career that Olson has been recognized as a CCIW Player of the Week. Wheaton is now 11-1 on the year and with a pair of victories last week and is now 2-0 in CCIW play.
In Wheaton's two games last week, Olson averaged 21 points per game, with an average of six assists per contest and 4.5 rebounds per game. On Saturday night she tied her career-high with 26 points in a 106-67 victory at North Central, as she also distributed six assists in the win. Last Wednesday she helped guide Wheaton to a 66-62 victory against Illinois Wesleyan, the defending NCAA-III Champion. Olson scored 16 points with six assists in the victory against the Titans.
Olson leads the CCIW in scoring with an average of 15.9 points per game and she is also the league-leader in steals with 2.75 per game. She is currently ranked second in the conference in assists with 4.9 per game and is seventh in the CCIW in free throw percentage with a mark of 75% (42-56) at the charity stripe this season.
A strong performance this season has moved Olson up the Wheaton record books in several categories. She has moved into 21st place on Wheaton's all-time scoring list with 893 career points and she is seventh in program history with 323 assists. Her 162 career steals is seventh-most in the program's history, she is seventh with 121 career three-point field goals and she is eighth all-time in free throws with 218.
