Wheaton volleyball team competes at Colorado College Classic

The Wheaton College volleyball team competed in four matches this weekend at the Colorado College Classic. Wheaton opened play on Friday morning with a 3-0 loss (25-13, 25-18, 25-19) loss to #20-ranked Pacific Lutheran University. The Thunder dropped its Friday afternoon match against #15-ranked Colorado College, 3-1 (20-25, 25-17, 24-26, 25-15). On Saturday the Thunder lost 3-0 (19-25, 14-25, 21-25) to Texas-Dallas and concluded its participation in the tournament with a 3-1 (22-25, 25-13, 29-27, 25-23) loss to Texas Lutheran.

Wheaton will play two more matches in the tournament on Saturday. The Thunder will take on UT-Dallas at 10 AM (MDT) and conclude participation in the tournament at 4 PM (MDT) against Texas Lutheran.

In Friday's match against Pacific Lutheran, Emily Buyse and Lindsay Stein each led the Thunder with six kills, as Stein added seven total blocks. Andy DeMoss registered five kills, freshman setter Lauren Wilhite distributed 20 assists and Kelli Manning recorded 20 digs.

In the contest against the host Tigers of Colorado College on Friday, Stein and Buyse each again recorded a team-best nine kills. Cassie Murphy tallied eight kills, while DeMoss and Cora Nott had seven kills apiece. Wilhite had 29 assists and five total blocks. Stein led the Thunder with eight total blocks and DeMoss added five total blocks. Manning was the team's digs leader with 19 and Wilhite added 13.

In Saturday's opening match for the Thunder against Texas-Dallas, Stein made a team-best eight kills, with four total blocks. Buyse had seven kills, with three blocks.Andy DeMoss recorded six kills and Cora Nott added five kills. Freshman setter Lauren Wilhite had 23 assists and Kelli Manning recorded 15 digs.

DeMoss led Wheaton in the contest against Texas Lutheran with a team-best 13 kills. Stein recorded 11 kills, with four total blocks. Buyse had nine kills, with seven total blocks. Wilhite distributed 36 assists, with 11 digs. Manning registered a team-high 25 digs and Murphy added 14 digs.
