Thunder men's soccer team falls at fifth-ranked Loras 2-0

GAME STATS Dubuque, Iowa – The Wheaton men's soccer team lost a fast-paced match 2-0 at fifth-ranked Loras College on Tuesday night.  A back-and-forth affair most of the evening, the Duhawks scored both goals in the final 10 minutes of regulation, as the hosts improve to 10-1-1 for the season.

The Duhawks took five shots in the first half, with Wheaton taking four.  Both teams had opportunities to score in the second half as the Thunder held a 9-7 edge in shots taken.

It was Loras that put the first ball into the net of the evening when the hosts scored in the 84th minute. Brad Joiner scored for Loras as he collected a shot that bounced off the cross bar to break the longstanding deadlock. Joiner distributed a quick pass in the 86th minute to assist on Johnny Rummelhart goal that would secure the win for the hosts

Wheaton out-shot Loras 13-12 in the match, with the Duhawks taking three corner kicks and two for the Thunder. Wheaton goalkeeper Ryan Seager made four saves and allowed both Loras goal in 90 minutes of action in the net. Loras netminder Dylan Milkent recorded the shutout with four saves on the night.

Wheaton is now 6-3-1 on the year. The Thunder will open CCIW play on Saturday night with a 7:30 PM matchup against the North Park Vikings in Chicago.
