Eighth-ranked Wheaton men's soccer team falls at Dominican University, 2-0

GAME STATS River Forest, Ill. - The Thunder men's soccer team lost a 2-0 decision at Dominican University on Tuesday afternoon. Wheaton, ranked eighth in this week's NSCAA Division III Top-25, falls to 5-2-0 on the year. Dominican, winners of the past three matches against Wheaton, improves to 4-1-1 in 2012.

Wheaton attempted more shots in today's match, with a 13-8 edge in shots. The Thunder out-shot the Stars 9-4 in the second half. Each team attempted four shots on goal. Wheaton was awarded six corner kicks, while the Stars had two.

Dominican's Leo Elizaide scored in the 15th minute of the match, thanks to a David Aranda assist as the hosts took a 1-0 lead. Ryan Ybarra gave the hosts a 2-0 lead when he scored in the 73rd minute to secure the victory for Dominican.

Senior goalkeeper Ryan Seager made two saves in the Thunder net and allowed two goals. Dominican netminder Max Gutbrod made four saves in recording the shutout.

The Thunder remains on the road for a pair of matches in St. Louis this weekend. Wheaton will be at Washington University-St. Louis on Friday at 7 PM and the Thunder will travel to Webster University on Saturday.
