Volleyball team wins two at the Wheaton Thunder Tri-Match

Wheaton, Ill. –
The Wheaton volleyball team picked up a pair of victories on Saturday at its own Wheaton Thunder Tri-Match. The Thunder earned a pair of 3-0 victories in wins against Monmouth College and Lakeland College.

In today's opening match Wheaton topped Monmouth, 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-9). Lindsay Stein led the Thunder with six kills, while Andy DeMoss, Emily Buyse and Cassie Murphy each recorded five kills. Lauren Wilhite led the Thunder with 21 assists, three service aces, 10 digs and three assisted blocks. Buyse recorded four service aces and tallied six total blocks. Freshman Kelli Manning tallied a team-high 20 digs, with three service aces.

Wheaton closed out today's matches with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-20) victory against Lakeland. Murphy posted eight kills, with 10 digs. Stein tallied seven kills, with three assisted blocks. DeMoss had five kills with five assisted blocks. Buyse registered a team-high six service aces, with five kills and three assisted blocks. Wilhite had 27 assists, with three total blocks and Manning added a team-high 15 digs. 

Today's wins snapped Wheaton's five-match losing streak to improve the Thunder to 3-9 on the season. Wheaton will travel to Millikin on Tuesday night for a 7 PM matchup with the Big Blue.
