Thunder men's basketball defeats Loras 90-63 behind 32 points from Tyler Peters

The Wheaton College men's basketball team earned a 90-63 victory against Loras College on Tuesday night at Wheaton's King Arena. The Thunder improves to 3-0 in the season, while Loras falls to 1-2. Wheaton will be off until next Wednesday when the squad travels to University of Chicago.

Wheaton never trailed in tonight's game and jumped out to a 22-5 lead just seven and half minutes into the game. The Thunder led the Duhawks 49-28 at halftime as Tyler Peters scored 17 points in the first half and Brayden Teuscher (PICTURED LEFT)  tallied 16 points. The largest advantage of the game for the Thunder was a 30-point bulge at 89-59 with 4:10 left in the game.

Peters scored a career-high 32 points as he shot 13-of-17 from the field. The Thunder junior added eight assists, with five rebounds. Teuscher scored 21 points in the game with 6-for-10 from the field, including 3-for-4 from three-point range. Sophomore Michael Kvam scored nine points off the Thunder bench. Junior Nathan Haynes added seven points, with seven rebounds and three steals.

Wheaton shot 58.5% (31-53) from the field for the game, with a 68% (17-25) field goal percentage in the first half. The Thunder made 10 three-pointers, shooting 58.8% (10-17) from behind the three-point arc and 81.8% (18-22) at the free throw line. Loras shot 48.8% (21-43) from the field, with 18.2% (2-11) from three-point range and 73.1% (19-26) at the charity stripe. Wheaton out-rebounded the Duhawks 28-23, with a 9-7 advantage for the hosts on the offensive glass.

Ryan Coon led Loras with 13 points on 5-for-7 shooting from the field. Nathaniel Smith scored 12 points, with five assists and two steals for the Duhawks.
