Volleyball team falls to #5-Hope, Saint Mary's (Ind.)

Notre Dame, Ind.- The Wheaton volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on Saturday afternoon to #5-ranked Hope College and Saint Mary's (Ind.).   Wheaton lost both matches in straight sets to fall to 11-22 on the season.

Nationally-ranked Hope (27-3) flexed their muscle in the opening match against the Thunder, winning 25-10, 25-15 and 25-15.

Emily Buyse was the attack leader with six kills.  Lauren Wilhite passed out 21 assits and Cassie Murphy was the digs leader with 10.  Samantha Hedlund recorded a pair of service aces.

In their second match, Wheaton fell to Saint Mary's (Ind.) in straight sets by scores of 25-23, 25-23 and 25-21.

Buyse again led the offense with 10 kills while Wilhite tallied eight to go along with her 24 assists and 11 digs.  Kelli Manning led with 17 digs.  Megan Thornton tallied three service aces.

Wheaton (11-22, 2-5) will travel to North Central on Tuesday night to take on the Cardinals (23-10, 5-2) in the CCIW Play-in Match starting at 7 PM.
