Rock Island, Ill. - The Wheaton volleyball team won the final three sets of a CCIW match at Augustana on Tuesday night to earn a 3-2 victory against the Vikings. The Vikings won the first set 25-20 and the hosts took the second set 25-15. Wheaton was a 25-19 winner in the third set and evened the match up with a 25-21 victory in the fourth set. The Thunder completed the rally by winning the decisive fifth set 15-11.
Sophomore
Andy DeMoss led the Thunder with 16 kills.
Hannah Velling recorded 10 kills and
Meghan Grant added eight. Freshman setter
Lauren Wilhite distributed 44 assists.
Kelli Manning led the Thunder with 19 digs,
Cassie Murphy added 15 digs,
Samantha Hedlund had 14 digs and
Megan Thornton recorded 10.
Wheaton is now 11-20 on the year, with a 2-5 record for the complete CCIW regular season schedule. The Thunder will travel to South Bend, Indiana on Saturday for matches against St. Mary's (Ind.) and Hope College. Wheaton will compete in a CCIW Play-In match next Tuesday night.
