Thunder volleyball team falls at ninth-ranked Elmhurst College

The Thunder volleyball returned to action on Tueday night after week-long layoff. Wheaton lost a 3-0 decision at Elmhurst College (15-4/4-0 CCIW), the ninth-ranked team in this week's AVCA Division III Coaches Poll.

Elmhurst opened the match with a 25-12 win in the first set. The Bluejays earned a 25-19 victory in the second set. The hosts closed out the match with a 25-16 win in the decisive third set.

Emily Buyse led Wheaton with nine kills and four blocks in the match. Andy DeMoss added five kills and Megan McKinley recorded four service aces. Senior Cassie Murphy led the guests with nine digs and she added 11 assists, while Lauren Wilhite led the Thunder with 15 assists.

The Thunder is now 4-15 on the year, with an 0-4 record in CCIW play Wheaton will return to action on Friday night when the Thunder hosts Endicott College at 5 PM as part of Wheaton's Homecoming activities.
