Rock Island, Ill. - The Thunder men's basketball team had its five-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday night in a 70-46 loss at #20-ranked Augustana (14-4/4-3 CCIW). Wheaton, ranked 22nd in this weekís D3hoops.com Top-25 poll, is now 14-4 on the year, with a 5-2 CCIW record. The Thunder will return to King Arena on Saturday night at 8 PM when the squad hosts #21-ranked Illinois Wesleyan in a key conference contest.
Augustana never trailed in tonight's contest. The Vikings jumped out to an 11-8 lead with 13:20 remaining in the first half and the hosts out-scored the Thunder 29-12 for the remainder of the opening half. Augustana maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second half, with the hosts largest lead coming in a 31-point bulge at 67-36 with 6:30 minutes left in the contest.

Brian DeSimone scored a game-high 21 points, with six assists to lead the Vikings. Bryant Voiles added 16 points and Troy Rorer scored 11 points, with six rebounds.
Wheaton shot 30.8% (16-52) from the field, with a 68.4% (13-19) at the free throw line. The Vikings posted a 40.7% (22-54) field goal percentage, with 38.9% (7-18) from behind the three-point arc and 79.2% (19-24) at the charity stripe. Augustana out-rebounded the Thunder 45-30, with a 10-5 edge on the offensive glass.
