Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton College men's tennis team dropped a narrow 5-4 decision to Carthage College on Wednesday.
The Thunder fall to 6-9 overall and 1-2 in conference. The Red Men improve to 14-6, 3-1 in the CCIW.
Both teams evenly split the singles matches, with Carthage winning No. 1-3 and Wheaton taking No. 4-6. The deciding factor turned out to be doubles play, where the Red Men took two of three.
David Buursma,
Miles Greenwald and
Sam Cannon all picked up three-set victories in singles.
Joel Parrish and Buursma also teamed up for a win at No. 3 doubles.
The Thunder will next travel to North Central College for a 3:30 PM match on Monday.
