Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton College men's tennis team used four victories in singles play to edge out Illinois Wesleyan University 5-4 on Thursday.
The Thunder improved to 6-8 overall and 1-1 in the CCIW. The Titans fell to 11-5, 1-2 in conference.
IWU came out by taking two of three in doubles, but Wheaton got singles victories from
Stephan Rauh at No. 2,
David Buursma at No. 4,
Miles Greenwald at No. 5 and
Sam Cannon at No. 6. Rauh went through two tiebreaks in the first two sets but came out 6-2 in the third set.
Joel Parrish and Cannon earned the Thunder doubles victory at 9-8.
Wheaton's next match will be hosting Carthage College at 4 PM on Wednesday.
