Thunder football 2010 team awards given out at annual banquet

Wheaton, Ill. - Senior cornerback Tyler Langs was named Team MVP to highlight the team awards that were handed out at the Wheaton College football team's annual postseason banquet on Saturday.

Langs earned the Lange Memorial Award for "Most Valuable Player." At cornerback this season, Langs made a team-high six interceptions this season, with 12 pass deflections. He recorded 49 tackles, including 35 solo stops. Langs also returned 31 punts this season, for 436 yards, averaging 14.1 yards per return. His efforts earned spots on the D3Football.com Third Team All-North Region and First Team All-Conference at both cornerback and return specialist.

Kyle Notch
Kyle Notch earned the Parmalee Memorial Award for "Most Respected Player". The senior linebacker and team co-captain finished the year with 10 tackles, including one for a loss.

Nick Biggee
Senior Nick Biggee received the John Henry Award for "Die With Hammer In Hand". As the starting center and team co-captain, Biggee named American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-American, D3Football.com Second Team All-Region and First Team All-Conference. Biggee was a key part of Wheaton's offensive line that averaged 406.3 yards of offense per game in the regular season and he did not allow a sack in the regular season. The Thunder featured a balanced attack that averaged 203.7 rushing yards per game and 202.6 passing yards a game this year.

Ryan Foster
Junior safety Ryan Foster earned the MDM Award for "Special Forces Player of the Year". He totaled 19 total tackles, one tackle for a loss and one interception returned for a touchdown.

The 12th Man Award for "Scout Team Player of the Year went to junior fullback Beau Benton on offense and freshman linebacker Brett Anderson on defense. Anderson tallied eight tackles, one blocked kick and one safety in his debut season with the Thunder.

Mike Dozeman
The JR Bishop "Scholar Athlete Award" went to senior linebacker Mike Dozeman. Dozeman was a regular starter with season totals of 33 tackles, 5.5 tackles for a loss and one interception.

The team captains for the 2011 season were also announced - fullback Brannen Dorman, wide receiver Teddy Watkins, linebacker Jordan Chapman, defensive end Robert Ramsay and safety Brian McMullen.

The 2010 team captains were linebacker Kyle Notch, center Nick Biggee, linebacker Jordan Chapman and wide receiver Teddy Watkins.
