Thunder men drop an 82-72 decision at Illinois Wesleyan

 The Wheaton men's basketball team lost at Illinois Wesleyan (13-3/4-1) on Wednesday night, 82-72. Wheaton is now 11-5 on the year, with a 2-3 record in conference play. The Thunder will remain on the road Saturday night for a 7:30 PM tipoff at Elmhurst College. 

The Titans built up a lead throughout much of the first half to own a 41-34 lead at halftime. The hosts maintained a lead for the entire second half to hold on for the victory.

Freshman Jon DeMoss led the Thunder with 15 points and added four rebounds. Senior Andrew Jahns scored 14 points with five rebounds. Junior All-American Tim McCrary scored 11 points, with eight rebounds and five assists. Spencer Schultze scored 10 points on 4-for-6 shooting from the field. Freshman Tad Fisher contributed eight points off of the Thunder bench.

John Koschnitzky led Illinois Wesleyan with 19 points and added seven rebounds. Jordan Zimmer scored 16 points, with seven rebounds and Matt Schick scored 14 points off of the Titans' bench.

Wheaton shot a 43.3% (26-60) field goal percentage, with 23.5% (4-17) from three-point range and 69.6% (16-23) at the free throw line. Illinois Wesleyan shot 52% (26-50) from the floor, with 39.1% (9-23) from three-point range and 72.4% (21-29) at the charity stripe. The Titans out-rebounded Wheaton 39-29, with the Thunder holding a 10-9 edge on the offensive glass. The hosts held a decisive 40-24 scoring advantage in the paint.
