Eighth-ranked Augustana (14-0/3-0 CCIW) pulled ahead early and topped the Wheaton men's basketball team 70-57 on Wednesday night in CCIW action at the Vikings' Carver Center. The Thunder is now 10-4 on the season, with a 1-2 record in conference play. The 'Orange and Blue' will return to action on Saturday night when North Park visits King Arena for a 7:30 PM tipoff.

Andrew Jahns led the Thunder with 11 points and junior
Spencer Schultze scored 10 points with four assists. Junior forward
Tim McCrary scored eight points, with six rebounds and five assists. Freshman
Tyler Peters contributed eight points and
Jon DeMoss added seven points, with
Jeremy Pflederer scoring six points with four rebounds.
Forward Bryan Voiles led Augustana with 19 points and Mike Avallone scored 11 points. Kyle Nelson scored seven points and grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
The Thunder shot 38.3% (18-47) from the field, with 26.7% (4-15) from three-point range and 68% (17-25)at the free throw line. The Vikings recorded a 48.1% (25-52) field goal percentage, with 38.9% (7-18) from behind the three-point arc and 81.3% (13-16) at the charity stripe. Augustana held a 32-30 edge in rebounding and the Thunder owned a 10-8 advantage on the offensive glass.
Tonight's contest was tied a 6-6 at the 15:20 mark of the first half. Augustana responded with 16-unanswered points to own a 22-6 lead with 8:45 left before halftime. The Vikings led 41-21 at halftime, as the hosts 20-point bulge was its largest lead of the first half.
