Rock Island, Ill. - The Wheaton volleyball team lost a 3-2 decision at Augustana College on Tuesday night, as the host Vikings rallied to win the final two sets. Augustana won the opening set 25-21. Wheaton took the advantage in the match by winning the next two sets with scores of 25-23 and 25-20. Augustana tied the contest at two sets apiece with a 25-21 victory in the fourth set. The Vikings completed the rally and the win with a 15-11 victory in the decisive fourth set.
Sophomore
Cassie Murphy led the Thunder with 13 kills and she added 19 digs. Freshmen
Hannah Graber and
Emily Buyse each recorded 10 kills each for Wheaton. Graber led the Thunder in blocks with three solo blocks and three assisted blocks. Junior
Jenna McCallister had 42 assists in the match and senior
Ashlie Pace led the Thunder with 24 digs.
Wheaton will return to action this Friday when it hosts the two-day Wheaton Invitational in King Arena. The Thunder will take on Franklin College on Friday at 3:30 PM and face Monmouth College later on Friday at 7:00 PM. In Saturday's action, Wheaton will face Bowdoin College at 10 AM and take on Cornell College at 2 PM. Results from the Wheaton Invitational will be available
