Thunder women's basketball team falls at University of Chicago, 84-63

– The Thunder women's basketball team had its three-game winning streak ended on Wednesday night in an 84-63 loss at University of Chicago (4-2). Wheaton (3-2) will host University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Saturday at 2 PM.

The Maroons led 22-18 with 12 minutes left in the first half when Chicago began a run of 17-unanswered points in a span of just over eight minutes to increase its lead to 39-18 with 4:50 remaining before halftime. Chicago led the Thunder 51-33 at halftime. Chicago maintained its lead in the second half, with its largest lead of the game coming with a score of 65-36 with 14 minutes remaining in the game.

Junior Lindsey Brenneman led the Thunder with 18 points and four assists. Sophomore Brooke Olson scored 14 points, making three three-pointers, with four assists. Sophomore Laura Karsten scored 10 points for the Thunder, and senior forward Annie Bowen tallied nine points.

Morgan Herrick led Chicago with 20 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists. Meghan Herrick scored 18 points, with five assists and Taylor Simpson scored 16 points for the hosts.

Wheaton shot a 32.3% (20-62) field goal percentage, with 46.2% (12-26) from three-point range and had a 91.7% (11-12) effort from the free throw line. The Maroons shot 56% (28-50) from the field, with 47.1% (8-17) from three-point range and 80% (20-25) at the free throw line. Chicago out-rebounded the Thunder 40-25 and Wheaton held an 11-9 edge on the offensive glass.
