Wheaton volleyball has run ended with 3-0 loss to Carthage in CCIW Tournament Final

Wheaton, Ill. - After knocking off No. 1-seed Millikin University the previous day, the Wheaton College volleyball team saw its season end with a 3-0 loss to Carthage College in the CCIW Tournament Championship on Saturday.

The Thunder end the year with a 17-19 record while the Lady Reds improve to 30-7.

Saturday marked the first time since 1989 that Wheaton had advanced to the CCIW Tournament Championship match. But after hitting for a .213 percentage on Friday, the Thunder couldn't get its offense going against Carthage and was limited to .041 attack percentage. The Lady Reds ended up with a 25-11, 25-11, 25-18 sweep.

Middle hitter Emily Buyse led Wheaton's attack with six kills and three total blocks while fellow middle Hannah Graber added five kills and three total blocks. Setter Jenna McCallister dished out 17 assists while libero Ashlie Pace collected 14 digs.

Emily Buyse and outside hitter Hannah Velling were each named to the All-Tournament Team.
