Lisle, Ill. - The Wheaton College volleyball team went 1-1 at the Benedictine University Tournament on Saturday.
The Thunder ran its record to 15-18 on the season.
In the first match of the day, Trinity International University earned a 3-1 victory over Wheaton by scores of 25-14, 25-23, 20-25, 25-14. Outside hitter
Hannah Velling led the offensive attack with 21 kills. Setter
Jenna McCallister tallied 40 assists to go with 20 digs. Libero
Ashlie Pace paced the defense with 30 digs and served three aces.
Cassi Murphy chipped in seven kills and 2.5 blocks with another 1.5 blocks coming from
Paige Narr.
Wheaton then came through with a 3-1 victory over host Benedictine (14-25, 25-17,25-20, 25-23). McCallister came up big by leading the team in fourcategores - 10 kills, 23 assists, 21 digs and two aces. Murphy collected 1.5 blocks along with eight kills. Velling totaled eight kills and one block. Pace tallied 13 digs, and
Brooke Monroe contributed two aces and one block.
The Thunder return to action with the CCIW Play-In match at Augustana College at 7:00 PM on Tuesday.
