Women's basketball earns a 64-55 victory at North Central

– The Wheaton Thunder women's basketball team picked up a 64-55 victory at North Central College on Saturday night. Wheaton improves to 10-8 on the year with the win, and the team is now 4-4 in CCIW play. Wheaton will host nationally-ranked Carthage College on Tuesday night at 7:30 PM.

North Central led the Thunder 27-25 at halftime. The Cardinals built up an eight-point lead in the second half with a 41-33 advantage with 12:00 remaining in regulation. Wheaton countered with a 13-4 run to take a 46-45 lead with 7:00 left in the game. Wheaton held a 54-51 lead with 5:00 left in regulation when the Thunder put together a 10-4 run to close out the half and set the guests up for the 64-55 victory.

Lindsey Brenneman
Sophomore Lindsey Brenneman led a trio of Wheaton players who scored in double digits. Brenneman scored 17 points, with five assists and three steals. Sophomore Elisabeth Potts recorded 16 points, with 10 rebounds and three steals. Brooke Olson tallied 11 points, with three three-pointers. Junior Kelly Brooks came off the Thunder bench to grab nine rebounds.

Jackie Errico scored 17 points, with 15 rebounds. Latrice Newson scored 13 points and Christine Karl registered 10 points, with six rebounds and five assists.

Wheaton shot 32.9% (24-73) from the field, with 32% (8-25) from three-point range and 80% (8-10) at the free throw line. North Central posted a 28.3% (15-53) field goal percentage, with 25% (5-20) from three-point range and 87% (20-23) at the free throw line. North Central held a 46-44 rebounding advantage, as the Thunder held a 15-11 edge on the offensive glass.
