The Thunder women's basketball team drops a 75-59 decision at Millikin

– The Wheaton women's basketball team picked up its third consecutive loss on Tuesday night with a 75-59 defeat at Millikin University. Wheaton is now 9-8 overall and 3-4 in CCIW play. Millikin improves to 10-8 overall and 4-3 in conference action. Wheaton will return to action on Saturday night with a 5 PM tipoff at North Central College in Naperville.

Wheaton's final lead of the game was a 15-14 Thunder advantage with 8:00 remaining in the first half The Big Blue put together a 20-5 run over the final eight minutes of the first half to hold a 34-20 lead at halftime. Millikin's lead was by double digits for the remainder of the game and the largest lead of the night for the Big Blue was a 25-point advantage at 60-35 with 8:45 left in regulation.

Freshman Breanna Bohlen came off the Wheaton bench to score 16 points, with five rebounds. Sophomore Lindsey Brenneman scored 12 points, with three assists and two steals. Freshman Brooke Olson scored nine points, with nine steals. Elisabeth Potts grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds and scored eight points.

Kaitlin Brassil came of the bench for the Big Blue to score a game-high 23 points, with seven three-pointers, and she added four assists. Cecily Aldridge scored 15 points, with four assists. Elise Wildman scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.

Wheaton shot 33.3% (22-66) from the field, with 45% (9-20) from three-point range and 75% (6-8) at the free throw line. The Big Blue posted a 45.6% (26-57) field goal percentage, with 53.8% (14-26) from behind the three-point arc and 90% (9-10) at the charity stripe. Millikin out-rebounded the Thunder 43-32, and the Thunder held a 14-12 edge on the offensive glass.
