Wheaton, Ill. – The Wheaton Thunder men's basketball team earned a convincing 70-43 victory against Elmhurst College on Saturday night at home. Elmhurst took an early 7-2 lead in the first three-and-a-half minutes of the game. However, Wheaton then went on to out-score the guests 28-6, as the Thunder held a 28-6 lead with 6:10 remaining in the first half. The Thunder led 40-21 at halftime and the hosts' largest lead of the game was a 33 point bulge at 58-25, with 13:45 remaining in regulation.

Tim McCrary led Wheaton with 18 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists. Tonight was the seventh time this season that McCrary has registered a “double-double” with double digits in both points and rebounds and it was his fourth consecutive “double-double” Junior #John Shackelford scored 15 points, with three three-pointers and six rebounds. Andrew Jahns scored 15 points, with three three-pointer and two assists.
Zack Boyd led Elmhurst with a team-high 12 points. Dustin Bainter added eight points for the guests.
Wheaton shot 43.6% (24-55) from the field, with 38.1% (8-21) from three-point range and 56% (14-25) at the free throw line. Elmhurst posted a 41% (16-39) field goal percentage, with 22.2% (2-9) from three-point range. Wheaton out-rebounded the Bluejays 45-23. Wheaton held an 18-3 edge in offensive rebounds, as the Thunder out-scored the guests 15-2 in second-chance points.
Wheaton is now 12-5 on the season, with a 4-2 record in CCIW play. Elmhurst is 5-12 overall, and 0-6 in conference action.
