Volleyball falls to Elmhurst, 3-1

Wheaton, Ill. - The Thunder volleyball team dropped its first home match of the 2009 season on Thursday night with a 3-1 loss to Elmhurst. The Bluejays won the first two sets 25-18, 25-20. Wheaton won the extended third set 26-24 and Elmhurst closed out the match by winning the decisive fourth set 25-11. 

Sophomore setter Jenna McCallister distributed a team-high 30 assists, with five total blocks. Freshman Hannah Velling tallied a team-best nine kills and Sarah McWilliams added seven kills. Senior Ashlie Pace tallied 18 digs and freshman Cassie Murphy added 16 of her own.

Wheaton is now now 5-4 overall and 0-2 in CCIW play, while Elmhurst improves to 5-5 overall and 1-1 in league competition. wheaton will host the Wheaton Five-Team Tournament on Saturday. The Thunder will host UW-Stevens Point at 10 AM and face Concordia-Chicago at 2 PM. Click here for tournament schedule.
