Wheaton, Ill. - The Thunder women's basketball team lost a 71-64 decision to North Central in King Arena on Saturday afternoon. Wheaton is now 12-8 overall and 7-2 in CCIW play, while North Central is 10-9 overall and 5-4 in the CCIW.
North Central held a 30-23 lead at halftime and the Cardinals' lead extended to 12 points in the second half as the guests led 45-33 with 13:30 remaining in the game. Wheaton pressured the Cardinals into turnovers as the Thunder put together a 15-2 scoring run that gave Wheaton its first lead of the second half at 48-47 with 10:23 remaining in the game.
North Central held a narrow two-point lead at 62-60 with 2:20 remaining in the game when the Cardinals registered five un-answered points to extend their lead to 67-60 with 49 seconds remaining, allowing the guests to pull away for good.

Kathleen Fidelia led the Thunder with 19 points, nine rebounds, five steals and four assists. Senior center
Whitney Edgecombe shot 7-for-11 from the field, with 16 points and four rebounds. Forward
Jamie Jones scored 15 points, with six rebounds.
Meghan McGuire led North Central with 15 points on 7-for-10 shooting from the field, with six rebounds. Brianne Parra scored 14 points with five rebounds and three assists. Jackie Errico added 11 points, with eight assists and six rebounds for the Cardinals.
Wheaton shot 36.2% (25-69) from the field, with 1-for-11 from three-point range and 65% (13-20) at the free throw line. North Central registered a 47.9% (23-48) field goal percentage, with 30.8% (4-13) from three-point range and 77.8% (21-27) at the charity stripe. Wheaton out-rebounded the Cardinals 41-36, with a 17-5 edge on the offensive glass as the Thunder out-scored the Cardinals 17-1 in second-chance points.
