Wheaton women's basketball falls to Carthage 65-50 in CCIW Tournament Semis

- The Wheaton College women's basketball team couldn't get its offense going as Carthage College earned a 65-50 victory in the CCIW Tournament Semifinals on Friday.

The No. 2-seed Thunder end their season with a 16-10 record. The No. 3-seed Lady Reds improved to 18-8 and advance to Saturday's tournament championship.

Wheaton led 23-17 with 3:25 left in the first half. But Carthage went on a 12-2 run to end the half and never looked back. The Lady Reds eventually stretched their lead to 24 points late in the second half to clinch the game.

Forward Jamie Jones led Wheaton with 11 points and five rebounds. Fellow senior guards Lynnea Kvam and Kathleen Fidelia each wrapped up their Thunder careers with nine points each.

Wheaton was held to 15 of 56 shooting from the field (26.8 percent) while Carthage shot 25 of 56 (44.6 percent). The Lady Reds turned the ball over 25 times compared to 15 by the Thunder. Carthage won the points in the paint 28-10.
