Wheaton, Ill. - In a battle of nationally-ranked league foes, 19th-ranked Elmhurst pulled ahead in the first half and never looked back in defeating top-ranked Wheaton 70-57 on Saturday night in King Arena. Elmhurst is now 13-4 overall and 4-2 in league play, while Wheaton is 15-2 overall and 4-2 in CCIW action.
Elmhurst used a 20-6 scoring run in the first half to turn a 19-19 tie with 8:55 remaining in the half into a 39-24 Bluejay advantage with 1:45 left before halftime. The guests led 43-26 at halftime and Wheaton never came closer than an 11-point deficit in the second half.

Andy Wiele led Wheaton with a game-high 16 points on 8-for-10 shooting from the field. Freshman forward
Tim McCrary scored 14 points, with eight rebounds. Forward
Jake Carwell scored 11 points, with six assists and three steals. Wheaton shot 48.1% (25-52) from the field on the night.
Guard Chris Childs led Elmhurst with 24 points, draining six three-pointers on the night. Ryan Burks added 15 points and Brent Ruch scored 14 points. The Bluejays shot 50% (24-48) from the field, with 62.5% (10-16) from three-point range and 66.7% (12-18) at the charity stripe. Elmhurst out-rebounded the Thunder 35-27, with Wheaton holding a 10-8 edge on the offensive glass.
