Claremont, Calif. - The Thunder volleyball team competed at the Pacific Coast Classic, hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges this weekend. Wheaton will travel to University of Chicago for a match against the Maroons on Wednesday at 7 PM.
In Wheaton's first match of the weekend, UC Santa Cruz defeated the Thunder, 3-1 (25-15, 25-21, 24-26, 25-13) on Friday. Freshman Hannah Haskell led the Thunder with 12 kills. Senior Kelli Miller recorded 10 kills and fellow senior Lisa Jutsum (PICTURED) had seven kills. Senior Hannah McGinnis recorded three blocks.
The Thunder closed Friday with a 3-1 win against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (26-24, 21-25, 25-17, 25-18). Sophomore Ashlie Pace led Wheaton with 12 kills, Jutsum added 11 kills and Miller contributed nine kills in the win. McGinnis had eight kills, with four four blocks.
On Saturday morning Chapman defeated Wheaton, 3-2 (25-22, 21-25, 25-16, 21-25, 15-13). Justum had a team-high 16 kills in the win and Haskell added 10 kills. McGinnis made seven kills, with four blocks.
In the final match of the weekend for the Thunder, Pomona-Pitzer defeated Wheaton 3-1 (22-25, 25-9, 25-14, 26-24). Haskell led the Thunder with a team-high 12 kills and Jutsum added nine.
