Women's soccer defeats University of Chicago 3-1 for its fourth straight win

Senior captain Klynstra scored Wheaton's first goal of the night

Wheaton, Ill. – The #15-ranked Wheaton women's soccer team picked up its fourth consecutive victory on Monday night with a 3-1 win against University of Chicago. The Thunder will host Elmhurst in a conference match on Wednesday night at 7 PM in Joe Bean Stadium. Wednesday's match will be broadcast on WETN radio and television in the Wheaton area and online with streaming video at www.wetn.org. Livestats will also be available online at this link.

Senior Kari Klynstra gave the Thunder a 1-0 lead when she scored just 4:22 into the match off of a Brittany Bergh assist. Bergh extended the Wheaton lead to 2-0 a few minutes later when she scored off of an Ali Kopelman assist. The Thunder advantage remained at 2-0 for the rest of the first half. All-American Taryne Lee tallied a goal in her fifth consecutive match when she booted the ball into net off of a long Lauren Moser pass at the 53:29 mark of the match to give the hosts a 3-0 edge. Chicago reached the scoreboard 85:30 into the match when Melissa Plesac scored her first goal of the year off of an Emily Benoit assist at the 85:30 mark of the match.

Wheaton out-shot Chicago 13-7 and the Maroons held a 5-2 edge in corner kicks. Thunder goalkeeper Ingrid Erickson made one save and allowed no goals in 84 minutes in the Thunder net. Senior Karly Olson allowed one goal in six minutes of action. Chicago netminder Emma Gormley made five saves and allowed three goals in 90 minutes of work in the Maroons' net.
