Men's soccer falls at #10-Loras, 1-0 in Dubuque

– The Thunder men's soccer team couldn't overcome an early goal on Saturday night in a 1-0 loss at 10th-ranked Loras College. Tonight's contest was a re-match of a NCAA Tournament Second Round match between the Thunder and Duhawks from last year that saw Loras win 1-0 in overtime.

Loras' Nate Minkel scored the night's lone goal just 1:56 into the match off of a Santiago Mejia goal and the Duhawks withstood a strong Wheaton attack. Wheaton out-shot the hosts 19-11, including a 12-7 edge in the second half. Wheaton had a 12-5 advantage in corner kicks.

Loras goalkeeper Nate Dubois made three saves and the Loras defense made two back saves in posting the shutout. Wheaton netminder Joe Selvaggio made one save and allowed one goal.

Wheaton is now 3-2-1 on the year, while Loras improves to 5-0-1. The Thunder will return home on Tuesday night for a 7 PM match against Lawrence University.
