River Forest, Ill. - The Wheaton men's soccer team was a 1-0 victor at Dominican University on Wednesday afternoon. Senior captain Joel DeLass, made a strong return from injury, scoring his first goal of the year 12:18 into the match. The DeLass goal, assisted by Tyler Risma stood up for the remainder of the match thanks to a strong overall effort by Wheaton.
Wheaton out-shot the Stars 16-12, including a 10-5 edge in the first half. The Thunder had seven corner kicks in the match, while Dominican had two. Thunder goalkeeper Joe Selvaggio made two saves in recording his second consecutive shutout. Dominican netminder Piotr Sliwa made six stops and allowed one goal.
Wheaton will travel to 10th-ranked Loras on Saturday for a 7 PM match against the Duhawks. Saturday's match will be broadcast on WETN radio, with streaming video available online
